About our organisation...

• Our group is open to anyone who supports improved access to high quality outdoor learning for children in Central Somerset. We aim to link independent practitioners with communities and provide mutual support. We work closely with parents who are an important part of our support network. Our meetings are informal and take place in the woods where we operate. See Calendar for dates.
• Our membership is diverse; Forest school Leaders, Bushcraft and Survival Instructors, Pre School & School staff, Environmentalists, Home Educators, Community Play and Field Workers, a Playground Designer, an artist and Parents. 
• We are affiliated to the Forest Education Initiative and some of our group are  members of the Yeovil and Dorset FEI Cluster group and the Devon Forest School Network.
• We are developing links with the Hawk & Owl Trust, Secret World, Somerset Wildlife & the Woodland Trust & have joined the recently formed Somerset Outdoor Partnership. 
• We began by running community after school clubs for children in woods during the autumn of 06 and are now mainly running holiday woodland playschemes in the Glastonbury and Somerton area of Somerset, with help from grants (see news).
• We became a constituted group in March 07 in response to local community interest.
• We operate an equal opportunities policy and are keen to involve more young people in the delivery of our activities. We welcome volunteers especially for our conservation and site maintenance activities and offer support and training.  
• We prioritise disadvantaged children wherever possible and seek funding to subsidize the cost of sessions for low income families and to expand our provision for different groups in need.
• We have registered with Child-Safe.
• We are based in a small Forest School Centre but our leaders are mobile. We are able to set up sessions anywhere suitable, subject to the necessary risk asesssments & consents..
